Email marketing not working? Avoid these 4 mistakes.

When I take on new clients, they usually know “the money’s in the list”…

But – for some reason – the money’s not in THEIR list.

Sound familiar? If so, here are 4 common reasons why your email marketing is not working:

​1. You’re unclear on WHO you’re targeting with your emails.

Copywriting 101: your messaging needs to tightly resonate with one persona’s needs and fears.

Get clear on WHO is on your list – and help them get what they want or avoid what they hate.

2. Your OFFER is weak – or needs better positioning.

Your offer is the promise behind your actual product/service.

For example, if your SERVICE is setting up cold email campaigns for PR firms, then your OFFER might be:

“I’ll bring you 2 qualified calls for your PR firm in the next 30 days… Or I’ll pay YOU $1,000 for wasting your time.”

(Pro tip: your offer is more important than your copy… build offers that people actually want to say “yes” to, and your life as a marketer gets a million times easier.)

​3. You’re not emailing OFTEN enough.

More emails = more money. Full stop.

If you’re not sending at LEAST one email per week, you’re doomed.

For a variety of reasons, but the simplest of which being pure, boring math:

If you only email once a month, you only have one chance to make a sale per month. But if you email once a week, you have 4 chances to make a sale per month. Etc…

4. You’re not ASKING for the sale in (almost) every email.

There is no shame in asking for a sale if your offer benefits your reader.

So you should ask for the sale in (almost) every email (yes, there are exceptions…).
